Opencore Bootloader

OpenCore is an open-sourced tool designed to prepare a x86 PC for macOS and has been architected to alleviate many of the constraints imposed by its alternatives like Clover. OpenCore aims to do is create a more modular system which can better understand structures to make patching far more precise and effective.

Discord Server

We are a group of Hackintosh Nerds who love the macOS Operating System. We all run a version of macOS on our PC’s and would like to share our experiences with the community. Lots of work goes into making a Hackintosh system stable. Tools are being developed to help make it easier You just need to understand how your computer works and runs the OS and the Discord Community is a good place to start!.

News

June 24th 2020: While we regret the issues with the former OSx86.io Team, they was clearly unhappy with the leadership style of the discord server and as a result new admin have taken over. We run as normal. I would like to thank Pavo-IM and Erroruser especially for being part of Hackintoshx86, both of you will be sadly missed. I wish them both well for the future.

How I got my Dell Inspiron 7567 i5-7300HQ to boot 10.16 Installer USB by – ben wanderer

!!!

ATTENTION / WARNING

!!! PLEASE DO BE AWARE THAT THIS METHOD (MORE THAN LIKELY) IS HARDWARE SPECIFIC (DELL INSPIRON 7567 i5-7300HQ). I HAD TO DISABLE CFGLOCK VIA MODGRUB.EFI. I TAKE ZERO LIABILITY/RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU MESS UP YOUR DESKTOP/LAPTOP BY FOLLOWING THIS!!

First: You have to create your pre-built OpenCore folder, (I recommend updating it to the latest commit from GitHub.com/acidanthera/opencorepkg and building it via macOS terminal. Be sure you have XCODE 12 beta installed on your build machine, for extra good measure and to ensure success with the process).

Second: Once that is updated make sure that you’ve updated necessary kexts (available from GitHub dev commits and place them into their correct corresponding folders.

Third: Make sure you disable CFG lock in your bios via modgrub.efi (I will not go into detail on this for it is different per each machine).

Fourth: Once you’re done with disabling the CFG lock on your machine, make sure you run verifymsr.efi in your OC loader. Make SURE that it shows ALL CPU cores, at that point you should have proper power management and XCPM working.

Fifth: Change CPU-PM and XCPM locks from “True” to “False” in your OC config.plist.At this point if all has been done both correctly AND successfully, you should be able to / ready to run the MacOS Big Sur beta 1 or 2 installer from a USB stick on your machine.

Is OC updated?

Partially. AvoidRuntimeDefrag is fixed for macOS 11 but you still need to bypass stage 2 somehow, as OC doesn’t have support for injecting into the new Kernel Collection format yet.

When will it have support? We don’t know at this stage.

How do I install? Currently, the best way is to install it on an external SSD or NVMe on a Mac Pro, if you have one, then booting it on a hack.

But I don’t have a Mac? You can try a VM, but it will be slow. VMware Fusion and VirtualBox and Parallels have been reported successful.

What do I need to boot after VM Transferl?
NVRAM > Add >7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 > booter-fileset-kernel – type Data – value 00
NVRAM > Delete > 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 > type String – value booter-fileset-kernel

Will will need to make sure you have the latest Lilu, VirtualSMC and OC 0.6.0
with Bootargs -lilubetaall and vsmcgen=1

AvoidRuntimeDefrag no longer needs to be off with OC from the latest master build. Some stuff isn’t working! Some kexts need to be updated, so you’ll need to hang tight. Lilu, AppleALC, VirtualSMC, and WhateverGreen have been partially updated. Remember, this is a beta version of macOS. If you don’t have a somewhat stable normal install, having trouble with this process, or don’t have a good knowledge of hackintoshing, it’s best to wait until it’s easier to do. THERE IS NO SUPPORT CURRENTLY FROM ANY HACKINTOSH SERVER
